About Us

Starting their respective careers in the late 80's, Susan Sylvest and Thomas E. Murphy, officially joined forces to create Murphy & Sylvest Wealth Management in 2012 in Dallas Texas. Tom, a CFP(r), is the CEO and leads the firm's comprehensive financial planning efforts. Susan, our Majority Owner and Chief Investment Officer has a background in banking and managing wealth for Ultra-high Net Worth clientelle. They added Cathy Caddell (of Rockwall) as the Chief Operating Officer shortly therafter. Tom ('82) and Cathy ('88) are both graduates of the United States Military Academy at West Point. They added a third Advisor (and 3rd West Point Grad) when Donnie LaGrange (of Rockwall) joined the firm in early 2020. With our desire to maintain a relatively low Client to Advisor ratio, we added Elizabeth Sullivan (and SMU grad) in 2022.
In Jan 2023, we opened our first satelite office in the Chicago Area and added Paul Nolte, a Certified Financial Analyst, to the team. Paul is a regualr on WGN Radio.
We are a Fee-only Registered Investment Advisor. We provide comprehensive financial planning and manage investment portfolios for our clients under a Fiduciary promise. We are consistently recognized by the Centre for Fiduciary Excellence for adhering to fiduciary best practices. We are also consistently recognized for both our planning and wealth management services by D Magazine. We are fully capable of Remote advising but do enjoy the personal proximity of face to face meetings.
